Rules! Rules! Rules! Everyone hates them, but they exist for a reason. Because we need them! When you're out and about, displaying yourself for everyone who has two seconds to look, you need some rules for yourself too. The following five rules for men and for the sake of fashion: 1. Always, always, always go and tailor that suit. Now seriously, a well tailored suit should fit a man almost like a glove should. Not too tight, room in legs and hugging your back ever so gently. Make sure your cuffs are displayed 1 inch, so you may want to take in those sleeves. Closing the jacket shouldn't give it stretch lines. When your arms are down, you should be able to cup the bottom of your suit jacket, if not it's too short or too long. Tailor! Tailor! Tailor!
2. Buy a good watch. Now this is a section where things can get really tricky and a lot of times people can be given a ton of leeway. But the following rules I made for you to adhere to, are as follows. High-end clothing designers don't make great watches; in fact you look desperate to wear their name. Diamonds were invented for women, let's leave them the rocks. If you're going for a more sophisticated look, invest in a good leather band time piece. Try to stay away from stainless steel, it can go horribly wrong in so many ways.
3. Three inches max! Skinny ties are in but not that skinny. You're tie shouldn't be less than three inches wide in its widest point. When tying it, make sure the end of it sits right in the middle of your belt. Unless its a cut off tie, then you can play with the length.
4. Dark Brown Shoes! As a matter of fact go out and buy yourself a good pair of dark brown shoes right now. See what most men don't seem to understand is that, dressing well is an investment. It's a lot different for women, where trends shift and change every year. For a man, it's pretty much a suit, tie, shoes, watch and a belt- every year! It's been the same since forever. So invest in a good pair of brown shoes that'll last you forever so you can wear them with everything.
5. Undershirts! Need I say more. Wearing a dress shirt with a tie shouldn't let me see your nipples. Nor should I see the tank top you decided to wear this morning because apparently you don't care about yourself. Wear a regular T-Shirt style undershirt. This frames your upper body so people don't see too much. The dress shirts colors are vibrant and not mute due to it contrasting with your skin underneath. Come on guys! Undershirts are like a dollar.
