I once thought sequins should be reserved for the insane, women whose life long dream of stardom was never fulfilled, or Bedazzeler devotees. However, after spending the afternoon pouring through pictures of Balmain runways, I have been converted. All that gorgeous sparkle was enough to make me a believer in sequins (though the Bedazzler is still super offensive in my book).Balmain is way out of my budget, so I searched for some Balmain inspired looks instead. My top finds:
Central Park West Sequin Striped Top, $59, the Splendid Sequin Jersey Racerback Tank, $31, and the Smitten Rainbow Sequin Trim Tank, $52. These are all on Sale at Piperlime so grab them before they’re gone (give up your email for an extra 15% off!). Also, try Forever 21’s Falling Sequins Top, (above left), $15, the Floral Beaded Chiffon Top, $27, and Charlotte Russe’s Zipped Sequin Stripe Top, $29.50 For a super deal: Charlotte Russe’s Sequin Front Tank is $8.99 and comes in 4 colors.
These all work well with casual jeans; I love the idea of an embellished top to dress up a loungy look. You can also pair them with (faux) leather leggings and a blazer for a more dramatic look. For your bottom, there’s Urban Outfitter’s Sequin Skinny Jean – which is a lot more understated that the name implies- $88. For a skirt, try Kensie Sequin Jersey Skirt, $58 and GUESS Suzi Sequin Mini Skirt, $44. For shorts, check out Forever 21’s Allover Sequin Shorts, $15.80, and Charlotte Russe’s Sequin Soft Short, now on sale for $11.99.
Another great way to wear this trend is the sequined blazer. These look cute with jeans and a t-shirt and some pumps or leggings and boots. Charlotte Russe’s Square Sequin Dress Jacket, (bottom, right), $54.00 (check for the $20 off sale), Urban Outfitter’s Silence & Noise Sequined Chiffon Blazer, $99, and this Windsor black blazer, $24, (online find). Also Ebay has a few vintage items so you always search there.
If you’re feeling a little apprehensive about sequins, try smaller pieces like headbands or bracelets. Forever21 and Charlotte Russe have a bunch of options, all at very affordable prices, like the Sequin Beret, $14.50, at Charlotte Russe.
Very important: you must check for fit. Sequins can become really unflattering very quickly - for every body type. Try it on before you buy and then check it again with your outfit at home.
Shine on!

OOOO! I love shiny things!!!
