Head Start: Hat Trends for Fall

Put your best head forward with one of Fall's great new hat trends. Hats are a fantastic way to glamorize any outfit and add a unique touch to your ensemble (they also work great for bad hairs days!). Luckily for you, this Fall we are seeing an array of styles avaliable - so no matter you taste you will surely find something you like.

There are a bunch of options out there. Here are some Herr favorites:

Big and Round - These works beautifully in any color and will dress up your look instantly. There a lot of different options out there, many of which are quite expensive (my personal fave is from Patricia Underwood - $450!). The one featured (left) is from Bebe and retails for around $60.

Short and Fitted- These are made to look like a bit like riding caps, they usually come in wool and will keep you warm from Fall to Winter. They are more fitted,
so it might be difficult to find bigger sizes (hence, why I own none). This style is more on the casual side, so stick to wearing them with jeans and cargos and keep them as a great weekend accessory.

Fedora - This style comes and goes every few years, but recently has maintained a prolonged stay on the runways. They come in all sorts of colors, but stick to neutrals - the line between fashionable and tacky fedoras is thin. Juicy Couture has a great style with a side bow (right) for $68. Banana
Republic has a very similar option for $49.50. Aqua from Bloomingdale's (left) which retails for $48 (!), and Nine West has a grey one with a black velvet ribbon for $27 (on sale at Macys.com http://bit.ly/9Bnruv)

Gaucho - This is the more daring of the trends. Seen historically throughout Spain, Argentina and other marvelous locations, the Gaucho hat has been restyled to fit a modern woman's wardrobe (minus the cape and Zorro mask). These are more difficult to
findoutside of the $400 and up price range, but you can find similar, though simpler, takes on the look. Zara has flat hat version for $25.90 (left). If you want to go all out with style, you can try an authentic native Gaucho hat (search online).
