SPOTTED! Military/Utility

Our first Spotted: Trend Alert comes from my good friend Maggie. She was wearing one of my favorite looks for Fall - Military/Utility (I mention both names because the look has been categorized under either title). A trend inspired by military uniforms, that reflects the utilitarian and rigid nature of a soldier as well as the innate beauty of the uniform that keeps them safe, Military/Utility is all the rage this season. I could not think of a better person to wear this trend than Maggie. She is the definition of ultra cool - a serious hard worker and dedicated student who somehow always manages to look laid back and at ease (even when on the verge of major projects or in the grind of finals week).

Here she is shown (at right) with cargo pants, which have been refashioned this year to be chic and Fall-appropriate. The fitted cut and forrest green hue in spot on with the Military/Utility trend. A simple black long sleeved T is the perfect option keeping her look casual and fun (and is a great option for these cooler Summer nights). Her thin braided belt, always in style and perfect with any outfit, keeps her looks streamlined.

Finally, her leather watch (at left), brown with silver accents, fits right in with the "practical but chic" feel of this look and adds just enough of a finishing touch on her ensemble.

For a similar look or to try out this trend yourself, check out H&M for a great Utility jacket or cargo pant (most around $40), Zara and Mango also have great options, and for that perfect leather brown military-style watch check out Michael by Mk and Fossil.
